613 Mitzvot

There are traditionally 613 commands in the Torah. But, there are some commands that we are not able to keep by virtue of to whom they are given, or for what purpose! Many, in fact.

Yeshua Himself, even as Messiah, was not obliged to keep all of them: He was not a priest, so there are many “levitical laws” that He was not obliged to do, even though He had to be perfect to be the Messiah.  He was not beholden to laws spoken to women.

The same is true of us! We are not obliged to keep every single command. We keep the ones that apply to us, just as Yeshua did; and, we find we are able to do them. But, as humans, we sometimes fail. And for that, we STILL need our perfect Savior, who indeed did not fail on one point of the Torah.

“All scripture written by the inspiration of The Ru’akh HaKodesh [including Torah] is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness; so that the people of Elohim may become complete, thoroughly perfected for every good work.” 2 Tim 3:16
